Policy Advisory Councils

Vision

To provide a platform that encourages a broad-based

policy development process

The Policy Advisory Council (P.A.C) provides an opportunity for access to the policy development process for individuals, as well as organizations. It is one avenue to having your ideas or proposal for legislative amendment brought before the appropriate Minister for consideration. The P.A.C’s serve as an advisory body to the Minister on both current and long-range issues. It is an adjunct, not a replacement, to other existing advisory bodies within the Government.

Each government ministry has a corresponding Policy Advisory Council, which is Co-Chaired by a Caucus Member. The role of the Co-Chairs is to facilitate the process whereby Council members can bring their expertise, input and suggestions into a forum for effective policy development. The objective is to attract the brightest and the best minds in the Province to assist in finding solutions to existing problems and to participate in shaping the vision of Ontario’s future . The broader the input, the stronger and more credible will be the results of the Council’s work.

All Council members are volunteers, and although Party membership is not a requirement, each member is expected to subscribe to our " Principles in Policy ". These Principles were struck as a benchmark, when developing this policy process, against which future policies would be measured. The intent of this process is that policy should never be driven by pollsters, and political pundits, but must be firmly anchored in these values.

Your input to the Policy Development Process is encouraged, and as such you can start now in shaping the future of our Province, by taking the opportunity to respond to the Proposed Resolutions Policy Input Sheet.

Your input and feedback will be considered by Mr. Klees, and arrangements can be made for further discussions with him regarding your suggestions.
