Town Hall Meeting March 9th at 7PM GO Transit Follow-up March 10th
As promised, I am confirming that the following steps were taken today in follow-up to yesterday's public meeting:
1) I advised Mr. Robert Prichard, CEO of Metrolinx that in light of the many concerns expressed at our meeting, we must take immediate action to resolve this issue;
2) I requested that a meeting be arranged at the earliest possible date that would include the CEO of Metrolinx, the Chair of York Region, and representatives of GO and YRT/VIVA.
3) I spoke with Chair of York Region, Bill Fisch who agreed to the urgency of resolving this issue and will cooperate fully with the scheduling of a meeting.
4) I am convinced following last night's meeting that the proposed cancellation of the GO routes must be stopped. It is my opinion that YRT/VIVA does not have the capacity or ability at this time to assume the responsibilities of delivering the services currently being provided by GO Transit.
I will keep you apprised of developments.
